First Lady Michelle Obama officially joined Twitter on Thursday under the handle @MichelleObama.
Obama and her staff will be using the account – which has already raked in nearly 60,000 followers as of late Thursday morning — throughout the campaign to connect with voters.
"We’re excited today to launch @MichelleObama as a new way for you to connect with First Lady Michelle Obama and the President’s Campaign," the account tweeted.
"This account will be managed by campaign staff, with any tweets from the First Lady herself signed '-mo.'"
Soon after, "First Lady" and "Welcome to Twitter" began trending on the site, with many — including her husband’s account (also managed by campaign staff) — extending a warm welcome.
"It's not every day we get to welcome the First Lady of the United States to Twitter—happy to have you, @MichelleObama!" tweeted @BarackObama.
Michelle is only following five accounts as of now, including Barack Obama, the White House, Jim Messina – campaign manager, Obama for America — her Let's Move campaign for child obesity and Joining Forces, the White House's initiative to connect families with those serving in the military.

1. Not Burt Reynolds
Not Burt Reynolds has less followers then most accounts on this list, but with tweets like "When I lose a follower, I just assumed they died. Because let's face it, it's hard not to love me," and "You can call it a mustache, or a hairy set of angel wings," the account's sure to catch fire. Follow this account for tweets documenting what you imagine Mr Reynolds' life would be like.
